Network Marketing On The Job Training – Building Confidence In Recruiting
by Dani Johnson
Getting new reps off to a good start in your MLM business is crucial for creating momentum and duplication. Some Network Marketers are good at signing people up but don’t know how to get them started and on their way to their first check. This example of OJT (On the Job Training) will help you develop your brand new reps into recruiting machines.
Our new rep Bob has purchased his start up package, made his list of resources and is ready for his first day of OJT. It is the next day and we’re getting to know each other a bit and developing a friendship. I’m going to take 20-30 minutes max to go through these things with Bob.

I tell Bob, “I’m going to 3-way you in on a few calls to people (leads) who have responded to my advertising campaign. You just listen and follow along closely in your Dani Johnson Script Book.”
After we do this a few times, Bob is thinking, “Oh my gosh, all you are doing is reading. That is SO SIMPLE!” This is why I stick to a script to lead by a simple example. Can I do it without a script? Sure I can but is me showing off about how skilled I am beneficial to me? No way. What is beneficial to me is the appearance of being simple and the importance of sticking to a system. This gives my new rep hope that they can do it.
So, I’m working some leads and while on the phone with prospect Mary and I say, “Hi Mary. This is Dani and I’m calling you back. You requested more information about working from home, what can I do for you?” Mary responds, “Oh, what do you have available?” I reply, “before we get started, I want to introduce you to Bob from Indiana. Bob is a brand new associate and I’m in charge of training him today so he’s going to be listening along while I conduct an interview with you. Do you have a pen and paper handy?” I continue on with the Dani Johnson lead script.
Why do I do this? This has my prospect thinking, “Wow, they train their people hands on!” This also builds credibility to me because Mary is thinking that I must have an important position if I’m in charge of training. This process increases my odds of enrolling Mary into my business even before she’s heard anything about it.
I hope you all catch what’s going on here. Most novice home-based business builders feel like they have to stop and train their new associates. If everybody is stopping and training, nobody’s business is growing. The beauty of OJT is that it allows me to continue enrolling new people while I train my new reps… a classic win-win situation.
