MLM Warm Market Prospecting – The Test Market Approach

Most of us have heard that the strongest Network Marketing teams are built through warm market yet we do everything we can to avoid the rejection associated with warm market prospecting. One sure-fire way to get your friends and family to help you build your business instead of run away or avoiding you is the test market approach.
Those of you in a product driven home based business need to pay close attention to this strategy because it will pay huge dividends for you and your brand new reps. In order to immediately turn your product into profits you should have at least $300 to $500 of inventory on hand for your test market.

A test market can be done several different ways. One way is to have a test market party at your house. This starts with a simple phone call to a few people who know, love and trust you asking them for a little help. You can say, “I’m trying to do a test market here in (your city) to expand here locally and I really need your help to gain some experience. Can you please come over Thursday night at 7:00?” This is a great way to invite people over to your place for either a product demonstration party or an entire business presentation.
I always have done a full business presentation because my product line is shown at the same time. If my presentation offers a $499 starter package and some of my friends say, “I just want to try some of the products,” they typically leave with a couple hundred dollars worth of product at the very least. If I’m just marketing the product, they have the option of saying “no.” The top down approach at the very least results in them leaving with a hundred dollars from my inventory. Do you see how effective this is?
Another example of the test market approach would be to read the following script from my prospecting Script Book to a friend or family member that says, “I was wondering if you would be willing to help me out with something? We have been looking for a way to (get out of debt, pay off our car, stay home with the kids, increase our income, etc…) After carefully searching for a solution we found something. But before we completely get ourselves in too deep, we are first doing a test market through a few friends we trust will give us an honest assessment. It’s kind of a ‘look under the hood and test drive before we buy’ kind of thing. So would you be willing to test something out for me? Great, when can we get together?”
This non-threatening approach actually results in your friends and family wanting to help you instead of running away and hiding. Even if they don’t enroll into your business they still order product and/or connect you with others they know who would benefit from your products or business opportunity. This approach is simple, effective and flat out works!
