MLM Time Management Tips for Network Marketing Success
by Dani Johnson
Most MLM home business builders are busy running around like a rat in a cage and not producing the results they want. Success in Network Marketing requires that you prioritize and get the most out of the time you commit to building your business. This article will address the common “time robbers” and show you how to avoid them and stay focused on the key activities that produce results.
What you focus on is what you get good at. You must focus on where you produce the best results and get the most value for you time. The formula looks like this; 80% of your time should be spent prospecting and getting new business, 19% of the time is training the new people how to go out and get new business and 1% of your time in problem solving.
I’ve asked hundreds of Network Marketing leaders on stage in front of their own organizations the same question and 99% of the time I get the same answer. Here’s the question, “as you build your business, you naturally shift from promoting your business and your product to training your people, right? When you have 10 people who have been on your team for a long time call you and ask you to “coach” them, how long does it take you with each conversation?” Most of them say it takes 30 to 60 minutes. This adds up to 5-10 hours spent “coaching” these old team members. Then I ask, “out of those 10 people, how many of them did what you told them to do and actually got results?” The answer in all but the rarest of circumstances is always “none.”
You just wasted 10 hours and got no results for you or your 10 team members. What you ended up with is frustration on both sides. So, if you directed them to a system that produced results while you used those 10 hours to prospect instead of coaching, what would have happened? What would your personal results have been? The typical response is, “oh my gosh, where were you 5 years ago?”
You need to have a system that forces you to grow your business and work where you are deserved, not where you are needed. It also creates a culture for your people doing the same thing because they do what you do, not what you say. So, whatever you do or don’t do, duplicates. Effective time management throughout your Network Marketing team results in consistent growth. Make sure that you set a good example by keeping your priorities in order and spending the majority of your time in the activities that generate the most results.
